This prize aims to heighten the awareness and to associate the various actors in the territorial transformation process: planners, builders and customers, for the promotion of the quality of projects and construction, in both natural and urban contexts. The 2011 Prize will honour a realisation completed between 1st July 2008 and 30 June 2011. It shall express a vision for the future, based on respect for the past.
Organised by the Barbara Cappochin Foundation, this international prize has enjoyed the support, since 2005, of the International Union of Architects (UIA) and the Italian National Council of Architects, Town Planners, Landscapers and Conservationists (CNAPPC).

Type of submissions
The prize is open to architects worldwide and multidisciplinary teams led by architects. Entries are invited in the following categories: residential, public or private ; commercial, administrative, or multifunctional complexes; public facilities (educational, cultural, religious, sports, leisure, health); landscape architecture; interior design.

Prizes
The international Barbara Cappochin Prize worth 30000 euros will be awared by the jury as well as a prize of 5000 euros for a realisation located in the province of Padua and a special prize of 5000 euros for quality architectural and construction details. Besides, the Giancarlo Ius Gold Medal will honour the most innovative work in the field of energy saving and renewable energy technology.

Jury
The international jury is composed as follows: Leopoldo Freyrie, architect, President of the CNAPPC (Italy), Michele de Lucchi, architect (Italy), Nikos Fintikakis, architect (Greece), Douglas Steidl, architect (USA), UIA representative, Francisco Mangado, architect (Spain), Matti Sanaksenaho, architect (Finland). Ben R. Darmer, architect (USA) will sit as UIA deputy representative.

Participation
Competitors will register and upload the documents indicated in the regulations on the Foundation’sweb site.

Languages to be used: English or Italian. There is no registration fee.
