Nicola-Lenivets village, March 1, 2008

The annual land art festival as always took place in Nicola-Lenivets village. The artist Nikolay Polisskyi showed his fire-spitting installation “Jar-ptytsa”, the architect Anna Shchetinina displayed her high-rise architectural object “Dom nad lesom”(“House over the Woods”). The artist Alexander Konstantinov erected  a basilica-izba, and artel “Nicola-Lenivetskie promisly” created ornithological installation “Gratchi prileteli (“The rooks have come”).

The idea of the “ArchStoyaniye” project is to arrange a landscape festival alfresco at the territory of Nikola-Lenivets village and at the area of the natural and historical reserve “Ugra” in Kaluga region. The territory adjacent to Nikola-Lenivets village has already manifested itself as an art-space which is rather unique for Russia and which impels notable architects and designers to effective cooperation. The usage of natural ecological materials and local labor is a condition of participation in the festival. So, participation in the art-projects becomes a new occupation for the local countrymen.
